Is my bank connection safe?

Last updated June 15, 2026

When you connect a bank account in Books, Volo Cash never sees or stores your online banking username, password, or security answers. The connection is handled by Plaid, the data network that securely links thousands of apps to banks and credit unions.

How it works

  • When you click Connect a bank, Plaid opens your bank’s own secure login in a window Volo Cash can’t read.
  • You sign in directly through Plaid, not through Volo Cash.
  • Plaid hands Volo Cash a token that lets us read your transactions and balances. Your password is never shared with us.

You stay in control: disconnecting an account in Volo Cash (or revoking access at your bank) immediately stops the feed.

What Volo Cash can and can’t see

The connection is used only to import what your books need:

  • We can see: account names, balances, and transactions (date, amount, description).
  • We can’t see: your login credentials, and we can’t move money. The connection is read-only.

Why Plaid

Plaid is used by major banks and finance apps and is built around bank-grade encryption and security. They explain their safeguards, and exactly what data they do and don’t handle, here: Is Plaid safe?

Disconnecting a bank

You can stop a bank feed any time from Settings → Financial accounts. Open the account and choose Disconnect sync. Your imported history stays in your books; only the live feed stops.
